Amdie Mengistu is a Vice President at Empire Search Partners. He consults attorneys of all levels and practice areas with respect to career management and lateral market trends. Amdie's clients include public and private technology and manufacturing companies, large banks and other financial services institutions, and a wide spectrum of law firms. He works with attorneys throughout their careers to help craft personalized guidance and strategies for professional growth and advancement.
Before joining Empire, Amdie began his legal career as a litigation associate with Dewey & LeBoeuf and thereafter joined a boutique firm where he could gain more hands-on experience. His practice encompassed a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters, including anti-trust and insurance defense litigation. Additionally, Amdie maintained an active pro bono practice, including representation of a class of plaintiffs alleging constitutional violations against a federal agency. Amdie also received commendation for months of work representing indigent defendants in New York City criminal courts. Amdie's experiences at both a large international and a boutique law firm gives him a valuable and practical perspective on the law firm legal market.
Amdie earned his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia and his J.D., cum laude, from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was a Dwight L. Greene Scholar and a New York City Bar Diversity Fellow.
Prior to attending law school, Amdie was a social worker in the greater Charlottesville area, as well as a commercial and theater actor.
